Day 4 – Sporting Lisbon Camp

We woke up to a heavy raining day, so much so we were forced to train in the Sporting Academy domed pitch, which the boys quite like. At morning training they focused on ‘mobility – 3rd man run’, which was great to review some of the concepts we’re working on at our training sessions in London.

The boys were starving after an intense session, so shower was followed by a nourishing lunch that included soup, chicken with rice or Portuguese fish pie and salad.

After lunch, they had some time to lounge in the games room and to continue their pool, table football and table tennis competitions.

Soon it was time for the afternoon training where they continued to work ‘mobility’ via some very challenging drills and lots of motivation.

We had to hurry up after training as we still had to have our afternoon snack and go to the Sporting CP Stadium, Estádio de Alvalade, to watch an Europa’s League Match, Sporting CP v Atletico Madrid FC. The lions won  1-0, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to go through the next phase. It was a great match to watch and a fantastic experience overall, with the boys enjoying each other’s company.

We had packed meals waiting for us in the coach.

After another long tiring day, we longed for a good night sleep, and that’s just what we did once we arrived to the academy.
